Personality: Headstrong, stubborn, willful. But possessed of a deep abiding faith in herself and those she calls companions. Born a noble, Ellessa is no stranger to duty. Her family had strong ties to the ruling monarchs of Ferelden; she grew up in the light of power and wealth. However, instead of becoming a vaporish, air-brained lady of court, Ellessa instead turned to practical matters, such as the ruling of her father's lands and the training of his men, much to her mother's chagrin.

The little sister with an older brother, Ellessa was quite the prankster growing up. She quickly learned that all a pretty girl needed to do was flutter her eyelashes and give a charming smile and most would instantly capitulate. Thus, she learned to use those lovely big blue eyes to her advantage, becoming quite the sneaky brat, able to find her way into no end of mischief, but seldom suffering harsh consequences thanks to her glib tongue and winsome tactics. Her adventures taught her the intricacies of picking any and all types of locks, from chests to doors to jewelry boxes. And one never knew when some shiny bauble might find its way into her pocket.

Playful by nature, she tends to instinctively flirt with those whom she's comfortable, men and women included. Attracted to the exotic and different, she's unafraid to try anything at least once, but despite her many layered and idiosyncratic personality, she still holds a deep respect for those in power and considers herself a true noble, obligated to hold up her family's honor. As she is currently the only known surviving member of the Cousland line, this duty weighs heavy on her shoulders, as well as her duty to the Grey Wardens; she is resolved to keep her promise to Duncan and do whatever is necessary to stop the Blight from overtaking her homeland.
